Petualangan Ajeng: Batik Tambal untuk Emak is a heartwarming children’s adventure story about a young girl, Ajeng, and her mischievous childhood friend, Petok. Guided by an old, mysterious map they discovered in the attic, the adventure of Ajeng and Petok began, all in the hope of creating a blanket to heal their ailing mother. However, on the journey, they encountered several challanges.
This book created for the children’s book illustration exhibition "Imajinesia 3". This story introduces young readers to the rich culture of Indonesia’s traditional fabrics, particularly batik tambal. Through an engaging and heartwarming adventure, children will not only learn about the beauty of batik, but also the importance of kindness, frinedship and helping others.
Ajeng is a spirited little girl on a mission to find the legendary pieces of batik to create a magical patchwork blanket that can heal her beloved mother. Full of curiosity and cheerfulness, Ajeng is always eager to explore the world around her. Despite being a bit clumsy, her bright personality and compassionate heart shine through as she delights in helping others along her journey.
Ajeng’s mother is a gentle and loving figure who has fallen ill, leaving her unable to walk without the help of her cane. Despite her illness, she remains strong for Ajeng, though she often feels guilty for relying on her young daughter. Her deep love and quiet strength inspire Ajeng to find the magical batik tambal that might heal her.
Ajeng, a spirited young girl, start on a journey with her quirky little companion, Petok, in search for a cure for her sick mother. Their adventure begins with the discovery of a legendary map they found in the attic, rumored to lead to a magical patchwork batik blanket capable of curing all illnesses.
Following the map's winding path, Ajeng and Petok venture through golden rice fields and shadowy forests, where they stumble upon animals in distress. Always ready to lend a hand, Ajeng helps the creatures, who, in return, gift her scraps of enchanted fabric. Grateful and determined, Ajeng collects these magical pieces, hopeful that they will create the magical blanket that could restore her mother’s health.
After patiently stitching the fabric together with Petok’s help, the patchwork blanket unexpectedly floats away, drifting out of reach. Heartbroken, Ajeng watches it soar away, her tears flowing as she fears her efforts have been in vain. But just as she returns home in despair, a gentle knock echoes at the door. To her surprise, the animals she had once helped have come to her rescue, delivering the completed patchwork batik blanket.With hope renewed, Ajeng drapes the blanket over her mother, who immediately regains her strength and health.
Overjoyed, Ajeng and Petok thank the animals, celebrating their triumph with a joyful feast that brings everyone together in a spirit of gratitude and friendship.This fun and whimsical adventure reminds us that kindness and persistence, even in the face of unexpected challenges, can weave together the magic that heals hearts and spirits.
